RE PAMBANELLE

Singing and Dancing’s Popular Group of Bitonto “Re Pambanelle” (that in our dialect means the first leaflets that appear on the grapevine) is a cultural association without any purpose of profit. Born in 1991 with the aim of recovering the huge patrimony of songs and dances of our earth.
This long and complex work has started from the “oral tales of our elderly”, then the material has been organized to complete the songs and dances that today compose our repertoire.
Currently the group is made up of 40 members; 30 of them wear original clothes and sing, play instruments and dance.
The costumes are the original reproduction of the suits that the average middle class used to wear during the18th and 19th century.
The music instruments are those used to celebrate the end of a day-work in the fields or the weddings. The guitar, the accordion and tambourines, the flute, the violin of poor people and many others, are all instruments played on stage by the various components of the group. The repertoire of the group is made up of popular songs and dances from Bitonto and from Puglia: Quadriglia, Polka, Mazurka, Tarantelle, Pizzica Pizzica, etc…
Among the main festivals to which the group took part we can remember:
